Our Nature-Inspired Philosophy
At Nature Nest, we believe in the power of nature to inspire, nurture, and educate. Our approach is centered around creating a space where children can explore, discover, and learn through nature-based activities. We aim to ignite curiosity, encourage creativity, and foster a deep connection with the natural world. Through our thoughtfully designed programs, we strive to provide a unique and enriching experience for every child.

The safety and well-being of every child at Nature Nest are our top priorities. We maintain a secure and nurturing environment where children can freely engage with nature while being under the careful supervision of our experienced team. Our commitment to health and safety is unwavering, and we adhere to the highest standards to ensure that every child feels secure and supported throughout their time at Nature Nest.

Meet the Team

Rachel is a passionate early childhood educator with over 18 years of experience nurturing young minds through play, connection, and creativity. As the founder of Nature Nest, she brings her deep love for child-led learning and her belief in the magic of nature into every program and space she helps create.

Throughout her career, Rachel has guided children with warmth and intention, always honoring their individuality, emotions, and curiosity. Her classroom has never been confined by walls — it lives in the mud kitchen, the storytelling circle, the garden, and the rhythm of seasonal change.

At Nature Nest, Rachel’s vision comes to life: a space where children of all abilities can feel safe to explore, get messy, move freely, and grow into who they are. With a heart rooted in inclusive education and sensory-rich play, she leads with joy, patience, and a deep respect for the pace of childhood.

Founder/Lead Teacher

Dr. Stacy Wilcox is the founder and owner of Mindful Motion Therapy LLC. a pediatric outpatient Occupational Therapy clinic in Avon, CT.

As the co-founder of Nature Nest, she brings her deep understanding of child development into every corner of the space — from the layout of a sensory bin to the rhythm of a nature walk.

With years of experience supporting children of all abilities, Stacy blends evidence-based OT practices with the freedom of outdoor-inspired, open-ended play. She believes that the most meaningful growth happens when children feel safe, seen, and free to explore — whether that’s barefoot in the grass, painting with mud, or climbing with confidence.
